Asset preloading is the process of loading critical resources, such as images, code, or scripts, before they’re needed. Enabling preloading of assets means that you’re telling the browser to fetch it sooner than other elements.
Preloading critical assets speeds up your website because only the most important resources are loaded first. Research by Think with Google shows that as page load time rises from 1 to 3 seconds, bounce rates can increase by 32%. So, loading all resources at once could cost you potential customers.
1. Open TinyIMG.
2. Go to Improve speed > Set up asset preloading.
3. Click Activate.
Before activating asset preloading, it’s best to back up your theme to avoid any potential issues. On Shopify, all you need to do is head to the “Online store” section, click the three-dot icon by your theme, and press Duplicate.
